In 2018, the 5 Series
Gran Turismo was replaced with 6 Series Gran Turismo, making it for another
year with no changes or upgrades. BMW usually designates the “Gran Turismo” to the Sedans that have been raised
and elongated exterior than the regular
Sedan. In this case, the 2020 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo
is more practical than the former car.
The roofline is two inches taller than
the former. Tne 6 Series GT benefits from
standard 40/20/40 split-folding seat that helps in making around 65 cubic feet
of cargo area.
The sharply styled BMW
Sedan is available in a single
configuration, 640i xDrive Gran Turismo. It is powered
by a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that propels 335 horsepower and 330
pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to an 8-speed automatic
transmission with sport and manual shift modes. BMW has also included the
“xDrive” intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The 640i xDrive Gran Turismois
capable of hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5.1 seconds. The top speed is
claimed to be around 155 miles per hour. The engine returns decent fuel economy ratings of 20 miles per
gallon city, 28 highway, and 23 combined on premium fuel.2019BMW 6 Series price starts at $81,500
The 6 Series Gran
Turismo is offered in three trim choices:Sport Line, Luxury, and M Sport. The basic Sport Line offers sleek and understated design
cues. The Luxury gets few exterior chrome accents. The M Sporttrim offers a bit aggressive aero kit with
aluminum interior trim, and major work of
M badges. BMW 6 Series Gran Turismohas been equipped with a generous list of
standard features, including 19-inch alloy wheels, rear air suspension,
dual-zone climate control, adaptive LED headlights, automatic high beams,
power-folding heated mirrors, 18-way power front seats, memory settings,
leather upholstery, a leatherette-wrapped dashboard, a 12-speaker, 205-watt
sound system, a 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay connectivity
(but not Android Auto), keyless access and start, ambient lighting with 11
different designs, and a 10.2-inch infotainment system with touchscreen and
controller inputs.
Additionally,
there are several add-on packages and value-addedfeatures.
The Dynamic Handling Package comes with active steering, dynamic damper
control, and active-roll stabilization.
The Luxury Seating Package adds ergonomic multi-contour heated and cooled front
seats. A heated steering wheel, a rear-seat entertainment system, soft-close
automatic doors, a heated steering wheel, rear heated seats, and ceramic
controls are few available options.
BMW has taken care of
safety for the 6 Series Gran Turismojust like the luxury and comfort. In addition to a reversing camera, the standard Active Driving
Assistant Package includesforward-collision
warning with automatic low-speed mitigation, speed limit recognition,
lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring,and
rear cross-traffic alert. The Available Driving Assistance Plus package tacks
on adaptive cruise control with stop and go, active lane-keeping assist,
forward cross-traffic alert, traffic-jam assist, and evasion aid, which helps
the driver in handling the car precisely. There are also autonomous features
like parallel and perpendicular self-parking, a 360-degree camera system, and
remote control parking that enables the driver to engage an LCD-equipped key to
take the car out of tight spaces. However,
the cars test rating for this Sedan is notavailable. The related 5 series earned a top
safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Unfortunately, the 6
Series Gran Turismo is available with a singleconfiguration.
Don’t you worry as the carmaker has provided various optional packages. We liked the Luxury line package because it
offers Dakota leather seating surfaces and power-adjustable rear seatbacks. If
you are looking to add more safety features, add the Premium package that
includes a head-up display and a surround-view camera. You may add driver aids and adaptive cruise control with
the Driver AssistancePlus Package.
